#ClapAndAct: university hospitals invite to share applause clips and make donations

In these difficult corona times and despite the important support of the authorities, Belgian university hospitals urgently need extra support. Their major efforts in the COVID-19 crisis may compromise their academic operations, including these in the area of research into infectious diseases. For the first time ever, they join forces, through www.clapandact.be, to invite the public to make a donation in support of their work. Everyone can now also participate in a creative way. You can post your applause clip from home on your social media with the hashtag #ClapandAct, clapping along with the rhythm of the campaign clip, shared in Flemish and in French. It is time to get creative on your own or in team with your isolation partners.

#ClapAndAct: donations and video clips

The university hospitals are deploying most of their health staff to fight the COVID-19 crisis and the best care for affected patients. As a result, their normal activities have significantly decreased, and they urgently need additional support to be able to sustain their work in the area of research, education, innovation and excellent care.

In this context, five Belgian university hospitals and two partner hospitals in their network are now inviting the public to make a donation on clapandact.be. They also ask to share your applause clip from home on your social media, via Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn and more. Each post should carry the hashtag #ClapAndAct and the request to donate on www.clapandact.be.

How can you participate and help the hospitals?

1. Make a donation via www.clapandact.be

First of all, you can make a donation: you choose the participating university hospital you want to support. Starting from 40 euros, your donation is tax-deductible.

2. Share your own #ClapAndAct clip

  • Clap along with the the rhythm in the video in French or in Flemish
(alone, together with your kids, or other people you’re sharing the confinement with).
  • Make your own original version... the more creative, the better!
  • End your clip with the message "Change your applause into a gift on ClapAndAct.be".
  • Post your movie on your social media, with the hashtag #IClapAndAct and the link to www.clapandact.be.

3. Share the idea!
Indeed, together we make more noise in support of the medical teams!

Invite your family, friends, and colleagues to make a donation and  post a video clip. This way you can help this positive action to go 'viral'.

Prof. Dr. Marc Noppen, Managing Director of UZ Brussel said: " People ask me on a daily basis how they can give tangible help. Well, this is it! Let creativity strengthen solidarity."
